The scent of cookie dough brings me back to a time of innocence and teenage baking. Oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips instead of raisins, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, and peanut butter cookies were baked carefully and never burned. This skill has since been lost and I am a baker no longer. No longer innocent, instead I’m jaded. Too bitter to bake, the bitterness makes the cookies taste burnt. No longer young, I am lost in a sea of nothing.
